A Steel helmet adopted and used by the French Army in 1915 during the First World War (1914-1918).

The early M15 Adrian helmet was painted light blue for French Army and khaki for colonial. In late-1915 a cloth cover was introduced but was dropped in mid-1916. in the 1930s, with France’s shift toward a more camouflaged uniform, existing helmets were painted a more khaki-drab and fitted with updated insignia.

These helmets continued to be used well into the 1930s despite an updated and simplified version being introduced in 1926 as the M26 Helmet (the M26 did not see se until the mid-1930’s). During World War One, the helmets were also supplied to allied nations, such as the African American 369th Infantry Regiment, also known as the Harlem Hellfighters.
