M1 Helmet (1975 pattern, Woodland Cover)

M1 Helmet (1975 pattern, Woodland Cover)

The 1975 pattern M1 helmet uses a nylon chinstrap with a built in chin cup and snap rather than a hook and buckle. These were used by US troops from 1975 into the early 1990s. Although replaced by the PASGT helmet in 1983, old stock of M1 helmets continued to be issued to US troops in Lebanon (1982-1984), Grenada (1983), and in some small cases in Iraq during the First Gulf War (1990-1991). The M1 was also issued to troops in training until the early 1990’s.

This helmet is equipped with a woodland cover that would be ideal for US troops in a temperate or tropical environments from 1981 to 1983. It would also be appropriate for US troops in training (1981- early 1990’s) or with small situational cases, such as Iraq, from 1984 to the early 1990’s.
