M1 Helmet Liner (1964 Pattern, BUD/S Trainee)

A plastic helmet liner symbolically used by Navy Basic Underwater Demolitions / SEAL trainees.

When a trainee quits or drops out of training, he places his helmet on the ground next to a bell and rings it. The helmet has the troopers name and recruit number painted on it.
